Can the program handle queries with a forward slash?

I'm trying to study tonal indicators on Twitter, but every time I try to query "/s" it gives me this error:

Error in make_query(url = endpoint_url, params = params, bearer_token = bearer_token, :
something went wrong. Status code: 400

I was able to successfully run the #BlackLivesMatter example on the git page, so I believe I set up the package properly, but it is my first time working with R so it could be a user error.
