Package Cleanup #572
Comments
In the current version of Chocolatey, no, it keeps all the old versions of the applications around. For some applications, like Ruby, this is exactly what you want, for other, like Atom, not so much. There are plans to change this, but for now, it is a case of manually removing the package folders for the older version of the package that you don't want. |
That would/could be a flag in the package manifest, no? |
There are some open issues already around this topic. Can I ask that you have a look around, and it you think it isn't covered by them, update this issue with further suggestions? Thanks! |
Will do! |

I only found #259 and @ferventcoder said that this is something chocolatey will do with v1. Question though, is this already planned out or is the how still open? |
it's already done in the rewrite. |
@ferventcoder Good news, man! Is there already a repo for it? |
@Stanzilla it's not yet FOSS but it will be soon. |
Closing as a duplicate. |
This isn't exactly a duplicate but yeah. |
So I have the Atom package installed and noticed that Chocolatey keeps all the old versions on disk, is there a threshold for when it starts cleaning those up, like after 3 newer versions? Or does it never? If so, why?
