With criu 4.0 compiled from source, I still encounter this issue #2418. As I could not reopen #2418, I created this new issue. But please just close it and let's continue the discussion in #2418. I already put a new comment there.

Fixed! Just use runc as the container runtime instead of crun, then it works. Steps are documented in my last comment in #2418
