Last week, we released Beta 2. In this session, we'll talk about what made it in and what you can expect from RC.

Beta 2 Release

• We will officially released our beta last week!
• Release scope
  • Certain prop changes are making their way into v10 (some are in v10.44, some are targeting v10.45), including
    • Changes to className
    • Changes to event handlers (handle* to on*) PR9628
    • Changes to size prop for icons
  • This release did not include all of the prop changes we are looking to make
  • Early versions of components, including
    • Popover
    • Tooltip
    • Notification vs. Actionable Notification
    • ContentSwitcher
  • Access to our icon changes under @carbon/react/icons
  • Bug fixes from our last release cycle, namely with theming and our compatibility theme
    • Included filing an issue with Sass as we encountered our first bug with Dart Sass
  • The bx prefix has been changed to cds PR9691

Scope of next release

• We are targeting this release as our first Release Candidate for v11
• We are trying to target the following for this release:
  • All expected changes to props in our React components
  • All expected updates to existing components, notably:
    • Tooltip, Popover
    • Tabs
  • The initial set of supported migrations from @carbon/upgrade, including migrations for:
    • Switching packages and versions
    • Common prop changes
    • [Stretch] Sass import changes
  • Migration guidance
    • Expanded v11 migration page
    • Sample App

• Similar to last time, we want to connect with teams to see what their experience is like updating to the newest beta
• This experience helps us focus on what to prioritize in terms of documentation and tooling
