In order to use scala-kafka-client we have to add cakesolutions repo explicitly:

resolvers += Resolver.bintrayRepo("cakesolutions", "maven")

It's so inconvenient. Issues #143 and #146 were created solely due to absence of scala-kafka-client in Maven Central.
