Description

NOTE : Issue also exists on the latest version of Chrome.

I'm on Ubuntu 21.10, Wayland.
When I start Brave browser after restart, there is an extra title bar. After closing browser and opening it again, title bar is gone. (Attached video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0rk45Zg6Eg
This does not happen when using Xorg instead of Wayland.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Restart Ubuntu 21.10 + Wayland
  2. Open Brave Browser
  3. Close and open Brave again.

Actual result:

Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0rk45Zg6Eg
First time, there's an extra title bar. No such title bar exists in Xorg.
Close and open again - no title bar.

Expected result:

No title bar in both cases

Reproduces how often:

Reproducible after every system restart.

Here's a fix :
Right Click on the 2nd title bar (the one with the tabs). Click on "use system titlebar and borders". Toggle it back to how you want it to be.
After doing this once, the weird issue no longer happens after restart.
