Description

Since today's stable channel release (2021-11-16) it is impossible to disassociate the developer tools theme from the browser theme.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Set the browser theme as "Dark".
  2. Open developer tools, change the developer tools theme to "Light".
  3. Reload the developer tools.

Actual result:

The developer tools theme will remain "Dark".

Expected result:

The developer tools theme should be "Light".

Reproduces how often:

Always, regardless of the chosen developer tools theme, it will always use the browser's theme instead.

The same occurs with the inverse color scheme: browser with light theme, devtools with dark theme - devtools restarts with light theme.

Chiming in to add that I am seeing this in Brave also, and that it is not reproducible in current Chrome

Should be fixed with brave/brave-core#12600 - duplicate of #20491

Fix is in Nightly and will be uplifted to Beta and Release channels. Thanks for your patience, folks 😄
