Going to the Windows Settings app: Apps: Default apps: Brave lists both the IPFS: and IPNS: protocols. However, I can’t select Brave as a handler for either protocols. Other protocols, including HTTP: and HTTPS: work fine.

Reproduced while going through #17181. Ran into the same exact issue. Attempting to launch via Run using the following will ask you to launch the MS store to find an application that can open ipfs://. Example:
launch Run via Win + R
open ipfs://bafkreigcnxudvpojjfwncmauociy5q46zsq46oe66cxbyzie3imabuoege
You'll get the following:

Protocol associations exist, but Windows Settings doesn’t list Brave as an app that can open the protocol.
Steps to Reproduce
ipfs://something
, and press EnterActual result:
Windows prompts me to find an app that supports the protocol in the Microsoft Store. It doesn't recognize Brave as an app that can open the protocol
Expected result:
IPFS should open and attempt to open the URL.

Every time.
