Currently fda_orphan_drug is the only plugin under the plugins folder. It also relies on upstream data processing described in Sander's fda_orphan_drug repo.
Shall we upgrade it into an advance plugin, with all the upstream data processing integrated, and then relocate it to dataload?
According to the documentation in Sander's repo, as of May 2021 there were 5849 records in the downloaded file, 3149 of which were loaded in mychem after data cleaning. According to http://mychem.info/v1/query?q=_exists_:fda_orphan_drug, there are currently 3661 cleaned records in mychem.info (July 2022 data).
The current version on the FDA site (https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/opdlisting/oopd/) has 6596 records. I think these stats indicate slow (but notable) growth in the underlying data. I think it is worth updating the data and parser as time permits, but not a super high priority in my opinion.
