Looks like it might be useful to take out colorbrewer and make it a standalone project. Should be easy, since it is already its own submodule.

There might some be similarity/overlap with this library I wrote

I'm hoping to merge this into a Cytoscape 3 app in the near future. There might also be utility in bringing together code/concepts from prefuse (the predecessor to flare which came before protovis which morphed into D3.js)

In any case, this is an interest of mine. :)

Step one: code has been moved here:
https://github.com/rcsb/colorbrewer

next steps will be figuring out how to host this on Maven central and then delete the original rcsb viewers module.
