I am quite busy, but I like to contribute some time to various projects (cf. my GitHub activity page). Yes, I am volunteering, at least to do some housekeeping with issues and PR, if it can help put the project back on track with a sane backlog.

How is the current status of the project?
By @bheisler profile it seems like there is not that much activity here. I think it's a shame if we can't keep this amazing tool alive.

I would love to help out and contribute. I was wondering if there's something like a good first issue tag/small scale stuff that is needed so I can familiarize myself with the codebase a little bit before I try doing the more complex things?
