- master is air quotes "stable" and probably running on PressBooks.com
- dev is work-in-progress. It is merged with master when ready to push to PressBooks.com
- hotfix is for emergency patches. It exists solely to avoid conflicts with dev
- experimental - use at your own risk, caveat emptor
- Tags represent releases
