@jenlampton @quicksketch

Here are some things you might want to consider doing

  1. Setting up a backdrop account on the docker hub so you can set up your own docker images. We have some images up at https://hub.docker.com/r/kalabox/backdrop/ for kalabox purposes but will move to your images as soon as those are set up. Here is a screenshot of how we have the tags set up

screen shot 2016-04-01 at 12 29 32 pm

  1. Apply to get backdrop listed as an official docker image https://docs.docker.com/docker-hub/official_repos/
  2. Consider whether you want to have drush in your own silo or over here
    https://github.com/RobLoach/drush-docker && https://hub.docker.com/r/drush/drush/
  3. Can haz release? backdrop-contrib/backdrop-drush-extension#29
  4. Adding some nice ENV support for the image Support ENV based database credentials  #2

Setting up a backdrop account on the docker hub so you can set up your own docker images.

done. https://hub.docker.com/u/backdrop. I have added you @pirog as a member of our team. would you be willing to move things around if/when that becomes necessary, as you see fit?

Apply to get backdrop listed as an official docker image

I read the docs on this but am a little hesitant do begin the process since I'm so new to docker. Would you be interested in doing that for us?

Consider whether you want to have drush in your own silo

Nope, keeping over there is fine :)

@jenlampton

re: backdrop org on docker hub

yes i can def set up the backdrop images over at https://hub.docker.com/u/backdrop. to do that we need to set up an "automated build" but i dont think i have access to do this on the github side. Not exactly sure what permissions are required but i can walk you through the initial setup if you want and then i can take it from there.

re: official image

I can def give this a shot! Would def be neat to get the dragon listed as an official image.

Alright @jenlampton we've got a PR in to docker to add backdrop as an official image docker-library/official-images#1584

I have NO IDEA how long this process will take so i think we should def proceed with setting up our own images on the docker hub in the meantime. See above comment on that.

woohoo! 👍

we should def proceed with setting up our own images on the docker hub

Is it worth setting up backdrop images, or could/should we just use kalabox images for now?

since the repo lives here now probably makes the most sense to set up new backdrop images since the kalabox ones aren't "tied" to anything anymore.

either way we'll need to set them up again to point over here so might as well do it under backdrop.

That works too :)

awesome @jenlampton!

as soon as you set up an automated build in the docker hub i'll add the tags and images and then i think we will be pretty close to wrapped up on dockerizing all the backdrops

whoops! saw you authed the github on the hub so then went in and added
https://hub.docker.com/r/backdrop/backdrop/

i think you can remove https://hub.docker.com/r/backdrop/backdrop-docker/ unless you like the namespacing better there

done :)

OK @jenlampton we've got images https://hub.docker.com/r/backdrop/backdrop/

So i think these are the only things remaining to get this dockerized and kalaboxed

Thanks for moving so fast on this!

@jenlampton here is an additional thing we need to submit for docker official image support. Can you go through backdrop/content.md over here https://github.com/pirog/docs/tree/backdropDocs and make sure that content is good for you guys?
