Fresh install of XP SP3, I install AssaultCube (latest stable, direct from GitHub), and it gives me this error, sadly not a lot to go by:

C:\Program Files\AssaultCube 1.3.0.2\bin_win32\ac_client.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

Has anyone else managed to get it working on XP? Would be a shame if it's no longer supported, should be illegal to not support XP in my mind 😂

I usually do not feed the trolls, but you must've been quarantined inside an especially deep cave. Microsoft Windows XP has been unsupported (by Microsoft) since 2014, it is willfully negligent to use such an outdated piece of software when your machine is not air gapped!

@Arawn-Davies, Please pardon me for being off topic, but I find it important to mention.

Why not installing Linux instead?
Either a distro of gaming niche or a lighweight one.

Please look into these:

https://antixlinux.com/

https://batocera.org/
https://garudalinux.org/

I'd recommend mostly on Alpine Linux, but no one has yet packaged AC for it.

It's not only about security, but also saving resources as there are distros that take much less resources than WinXP.
