  1. With MiddleClick running...
  2. Position the pointer over a character (e.g. half-way over a character in TextEdit)
  3. Click once
  4. Nothing happens.

BUT

With MiddleClick NOT running...
4. Cursor/carat is positioned to one side of the character, as expected.

MiddleClick release 2.7
Installed through Homebrew
on a new MacBook Air 15-in, running MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1
Using the built-in trackpad

Just installed this version of "MiddleClick" (previously running Obsolete MiddleClick) because it allows customization.
I actually find that single-click as you describe are sometimes ignored/missed and repeating the single-click (once or more) does the function.
It was annoying enough that I switched MiddleClick to "Tap" instead of "Click". Afterwards I find that single-click constantly works.
