*AWS EKS amis are built on a regular cycle, but there is not an image arn for any of the various version available to Image Builder. Is there a plan to get these added in anytime soon to simplify building a custom version of the EKS?

awslabs/amazon-eks-ami#1212 seems to be where this is being worked on.

awslabs/amazon-eks-ami#1340 has been merged so there's some PoC recipes in the tree at least. While this isn't "an image is available", it is progress.

This might be the wrong place to ask, so feel free to point me in a different direction, but is there a timeframe or plan for AWS providing AL2023 AMIs for use in EKS?

The best place to cover any ETAs is likely over on the awslabs/amazon-eks-ami issue, and keep this request around for tracking.

I wish I had something to share, but the EKS AMIs are built by EKS, so inquiries have to directed there.

an AL2023 based EKS AMI is now (finally) in Preview: awslabs/amazon-eks-ami#1672

(a bit late getting to this issue), but https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/containers/amazon-eks-optimized-amazon-linux-2023-amis-now-available/ says they're out.
