After deleting a symbol state, if you then set symbol state it no longer appears

Here are steps to re-create problem.
I add symbol state A, symbol state B and symbol state C
Choosing to set states A, B or C all work fine
I then delete symbol state A
I choose to change symbol state to B or C and the box appears with red lines through it, even though all the symbol overrides are shown on the right panel as being there

The only way to then get the symbol back is to delete it from artboard and insert it all over again. If you try to replace the symbol with itself, Sketch crashes
