Preparation and planning for project work for FY25.

Scoping and estimates for as many projects as possible, and plans and agreements in place for at least two to begin in FY25 Q1.

Sprint 1 & 2 Notes

DDW LSL

• a couple members of the DTS team working on the water system data submission portal resigned, so they are behind a bit on that project
• our SBA was verbally accepted, then I increased the estimate by $3k after discussing the possibility of us doing more address geocoding and "cleansing" for them; all it needs is an ELCID and to be sent through Service Now

DEQ SWQ & Beneficial Uses

• Estimate for a custom rebuild
• Need to connect with Jake about an estimate for Esri COTS migration

Broadband Residential

• GOEO just launched their BEAD challenge portal, so their priority lies with the incoming challenges.
• I cleaned up and resent the ideas board to Rebecca, and the rest of the group
• Jake spoke with them in the bi-weekly meeting (I missed it) to clarify, again, the goals of the residential app and rebuild

BioBase

• met with the DTS team - they are supposed to look at the app and get back to us; neither us nor them anticipate any issues with UGRC independently upgrading the mapping app to Esri JS 4x, however...
• DWR is considering a complete rebuild of the app with a vendor to integrate another idea/system. That is their preference, and they will know in May if they have the funding to do that, or to focus on the 4x upgrade only. If the former, they would like us to be involved in a technical-consultative role. If the latter, there will be traditional dev time.
• DWR and DTS will work together independently of UGRC on an ETL of data to BigQuery

Electrofishing

• The query rebuild estimate (~$35k) is greater than the known FY25 budget of ~$27k (including ~$12k to be billed in FY24 and serve as credited dev time in FY25, plus $15k of FY25 maintenance funds).
• I emailed DWR on April 23 to let them know of this discrepancy, and asked for data and examples so we can scope and estimate:
  • bulk uploader tool enhancements
  • and better understand/clarify their expectations for our role in mobile app development consultation
• I also dinged DTS Payroll again on April 23 about the hours changes to allow for $12k billing in FY24

DWR WRI

• Received an email from Bryan Brown and the WRI team about enhancements, the Esri JS API upgrade, and migrating the app from the LAMP slice on which it resides. I told Bryan:
  • to include Casey and his manager Jeff Nelson from the start
  • it would be helpful to have a list of the enhancements sooner than later to start reviewing and assessing them
• Bryan set up a meeting for April 30th

DEQ Enviro

• SLEIS database view as new DAQ Point Source Emissions data source
• Salesforce as Environmental Incidents data source
• Get last couple/few services off mapserv and cleanup forklift
• Layer-specific filters that traverse relationship classes deq-enviro#637

Sprint 5 Notes

• BioBase: A new Wildlife Habitat Analysis Tool is in the works, which will replace the bat/raptor app. DWR thinks they will need some UGRC time for consultation, but nothing has been specified yet.

• Raster: development planning is a FY25 Q1 objective

• DEQ SWQ: A draft agreement has been sent and planning will continue into FY25 Q1

• Locate: There is a FY25 Q1 objective to begin rebuilding it as an Experience Builder app

• PLSS: FY25 Q1 objective to define the review functionality of the app

• DEM Floodplain Map: Nothing happening at the moment. Will keep it on the list of possibilities.

• Spills widget: Met with Sarah, Scott, Michael Swistak on June 10 and discussed:

  • Primary goal: rebuild the widget with Esri JS 4x API
  • They will provide a list of requested improvements, changes, enhancements in early August
  • They will check internally if there are other (Marc Wade) apps using the widget - hopefully not
  • There is another idea for a web map to query and interact with the incidents data. They will investigate more about the expectations for this, whether it is within Salesforce, or could possibly be an AGOL app.
  • Scott is working on auto-transfer of Salesforce data to AGOL for use in Interactive Map for the 4 or 5 incidents layers.

• There are some new project ideas to pursue into next quarter for

  • Legislative Revenue and Taxation Committe - Parcel tax rates map
  • DFCM leased properties mapping
  • DWS zoning data
  • DHHS SUD Prevention - alcohol outlet density and related metrics mapping

Closing, but this work is never done.

Contracts pending or in place for three projects to start in FY25 Q1 (Electro, WRI, DDW LSL), and others in the works. This will carry forward as a new FY25 Q1 task with the continuation of planning for some projects, others becoming their own objective, and a new planning objective with new projects.
