I tried a Cinnamon, and Mate and also an XFCE edition (randomly) of different distros to test scripts ... custom tarball (say TinyMediaManager) or AppImage menu items appear in CInnamon and XFCE as expected (not sure what'd happen in Plasma 5) ... BUT NOT Mate ... why?
