What problem does this address?

If post formats are enabled on a site in WP 6.1.1, Site Editor users can create the archive template. However, there are still no block template options for single posts that are assigned a post format.

What is your proposed solution?

Enable block templates for single post formats.

Just adding to this some context on why a post format instead of a CPT.

I use my entire site as a central hub, and that means that I'm posting everything through that first. Tweets, videos, blog posts, all of it. This means that I'm frequently using the mobile app to publish.

If it were possible to make custom post types display in the app, I'd probably be more open to using them instead of post formats, but since that's not the case, I have no choice but to use post formats.

I feel that we need to consider the needs of people who use the mobile app, and configuring this is a big part of that.
