Description

When pasting text into the title field of the block editor, existing text in the title field is replaced.

Ideally, the pasted text would simply be inserted at the cursor's current position, instead of removing any existing text.

This appears to have been introduced in #42321 (cc @ellatrix)

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. Create a new post
  2. Add any text you'd like to the title field
  3. Copy some text from any source (you can type something into the editor and paste from there if you'd like)
  4. Paste that text at any point in the post title
  5. Observe that the existing content is wiped out, leaving just your pasted text
