What is this?
This issue tracks the redesign of the WordPress.org social toolkit to elevate and diversify how we message and tell the story of the WordPress project. Ultimately, this should:

  • Increase awareness and engagement with WordPress through a cohesive and visually rich social toolkit that can be applied across social channels.
  • Explore ways to elevate and codify how we visually communicate the value of the WordPress Project across different forms of content (i.e. education, feature announcements, etc.).
  • Provide a diverse and scalable guide to creating new content.

Timing

  • Design exploration: June 28 - July 5, 2024
  • Design development & testing across real content: July 12 - 19, 2024
  • System codification: July 26, 2024

Considerations

  • Consider how we elevate the WordPress brand system and portray that WordPress is jazz.
  • Retain the existing logo, typography, color palette, and product UI, but explore how we present and lay out those elements to better tell our story.
  • Consider how motion can help activate the system and tell the story.
  • Audit competitors and other product companies to better understand the space and identify opportunities.
