It can be difficult to read if something is lower- or upper-case. Allow for output to make it easier to read out loud to someone else.
e.g.

$ '!0q1I9Mf' | nato -capitalization
bang
zero
lower quebec
wun
upper india
nin-er
upper mike
lower foxtrot
