It'd be nice if we had something more organized than just pulling various things out of system properties.

Are you thinking of something like javaagent options? E.g. -javaagent:skybar.jar=serverPort=4321. Or an external file?

@eirbjo suggested that it would be nice if you could specify things in a file, or via system properties. I'm looking at integrating apache commons config (via config-magic), as it easily allows stacking config sources.
