There are several problems when external volumes are created and attached. The following uses cases does not work:

  • Increasing number of instances
  • re-creation of a single instance (terraform taint of one instance)

See the following issues for details:

  • 116 Additional EBS volumes are re-attached when an instance is recreated
  • 122 External volume get destroyed on instance increas
