What are your plans for Pengwin Enterprise now that Scientific linux is discontinued (https://itsfoss.com/scientific-linux-discontinued/)?

I had a quick "twitter chat" with @patrick330602 and @sirredbeard about the several possibilities, however as Hayden already checked and mentioned several times, the issue of Enterprise grade linux is the licensing around the name and usage.

So, let's see what the team can come with, and in the meantime, if you or anyone have a good suggestion which would not come with the licensing issues, I guess the team will welcome the suggestion.

For now we intend to continue shipping Scientific Linux 7 in the Store demo. 7 will continue to be updated by Red Hat and re-packaged by Fermilab through 2024. Popular third-party rpm repos, e.g. EPEL, will continue providing updated third-party packages for 7 as well.

Enterprise customers will have the option of RHEL, Oracle Linux, and CentOS 8. The issue with offering those bundled in the Store is they each have restrictions on their trademarks that make putting them in the Store tough.

We have several options under consideration we are exploring and will continue through that process in the coming months.
