SlmQueueSqs has not been maintained for a while now, which means it currently doesn't support the latest version of SlmQueue and therefore lacks PHP8 support.

We don't use AWS SQS at Webador, so we currently don't have any plans on updating this repository. It's still getting some use though, so we want to see if somebody would be interested in taking over this repository. We would be able to help with upgrading to the latest SlmQueue version.

[UPDATE] I've now also marked the package as Abandoned in Packagist. Hopefully this will trigger someone to visit the repo to see this issue :)
