  1. add realpath to $CONDA_DEFAULT_ENV as it is on $conda_env_path on install_kestrel.sh:410 should fix an issue where the path comparison can fail
  2. warn user if preexisting conda environment of requested name exists (and exit?)
  3. warn user if running on a login node
