I know you've already expressed that non-video media is an area of future interest for this spec, and I assume you want to focus on getting one mode of media specified and get some experience with it before branching out. But I hope it isn't premature to discuss in broad terms what those future kinds of media might be.
I'd particularly like to advocate for webcomics and prose fiction as other relevant kinds of media. I'll note that they have the same distinction as "TV shows" versus "movies": they may be episodic and serialized, or they may be one-shot media meant to be consumed as a whole.
I think I saw a mention of podcasts in some issue comment. I'd also add songs or albums, as hosted at sites like Bandcamp or Spotify.
I've been curious for some time to see what cross-media recommendations would dig up. (e.g. "you liked this song and this comic, so you might also like this book".) I think this specification has the potential to get publishers to provide enough data that user agents can start answering those sorts of questions.
