Tribler 8.0.7, in a torrent with multiple files, under the torrents "Files" tab, it is not possible to change the state of the parent (top most) check box.

Clicking on it does nothing however, selecting a check box below it, for each individual file, works okay.

We don't support downloads with 0 included files, so you can't use the root of the tree to exclude all files.
You can only use the root to include all files.

If importing a torrent with 1000 files and then decide at some point to only download one, what is the appropriate method other than manually deselecting 999 check boxes?

If I use qBittorrent as a comparison it allows deselecting all files in the torrent and marks it as "Completed".

Right now, you can only deselect all files in the "Download torrent" dialog. That would be the appropriate method.

Having said that, you're absolutely right that we need a better way to handle such situations. My point was more that this isn't just a UI checkbox bug, but we need to address the underlying issue that we don't allow excluding all files.
