Modifying firmware of master brick to run my application? #4

Hi! I'm starting to tinker around these little bricks and bricklets... and I wonder if it is a good/feasible approach to (try to) modify the firmware of this master brick to run little applications (using C/C++ of course).

In the docs I see that the RED brick offered this, but it is discontinued. Now it looks like it is only possible using an external computer-like device (raspberry, PC,...).

Is this possible/easy? Is it documented somewhere?

Nothing stops you from modifying the Master Brick firmware, but this is neither documented not recommended.

This week we released the ESP32 Brick and ESP32 Ethernet Brick that cover this usecase:
