@nicolevasilevsky this one was a tricky one. I think we may want a series of new terms for annotating this.

Would you suggest something like:

  • Abnormality of neutrophil morphology in CSF
  • Hyposegmentation of neutrophil nuclei in CSF
  • Hypersegmentation of neutrophil nuclei in CSF

Where the parent term for Abnormality of neutrophil morphology in CSF would be Abnormality of the cerebrospinal fluid (HP:0002921)? Right now there exist terms for Abnormality of neutrophil morphology, Hyposegmentation of neutrophil nuclei, and Hypersegmentation of neutrophil nuclei, they are just not currently specified for CSF.

@pnrobinson do we want to create terms that specify that the hypo/hyper segmented neutrophils are present in the CSF or would using the HP_0004821 'Hypersegmentation of neutrophil nuclei' and HP_0011447 'Hyposegmentation of neutrophil nuclei' be sufficient?

The latter classes are meant to mean in the blood, and that would be 99% of actual use cases. We should make exact synonyms for the latter terms along the lines of " ... in peripheral blood".
I think the only way is to have separate CSF terms for the above.

@callahantiff I added these terms:
HP_0410310 'Abnormality of neutrophil morphology in CSF'
HP_0410312 'Hypersegmentation of neutrophil nuclei in CSF'
HP_0410311 'Hyposegmentation of neutrophil nuclei in CSF'

(FYI, I added them as children of Abnormality of the cerebrospinal fluid, and added the logical definition to HP_0410310 below, so now they are asserted as children of Abn of CSF, but are inferred to be children of Abnormality of neutrophil morphology.)

@drseb and @matentzn - I used 'inheres in part of' because that is what was used for HP_0011992 'Abnormality of neutrophil morphology', is this correct?

'has part' some
(morphology
and ('inheres in part of' some (neutrophil and ('part of' some 'cerebrospinal fluid')))
and ('has modifier' some abnormal))

Thank you, that makes sense to me!
