Previously projects has to be transferred under TechPhantoms Org to take part in the Maintainer's Program and as we thought and got responses from the community that it is something most people are not comfortable with, so we are deciding to change this. I would like to write about why we wanted projects to be transferred in the first place and now what we are doing to make it work.
Why we wanted projects to be transferred in the first place?
As one of our goals for Maintainer's Program was to help projects grow and one way to do that is to get new first-time contributors and then create an experience so that they keep on coming back. For this, we were thinking of two main things to do -
good first issues
that would provide a good starting point for many first-time contributors to know the project. We had beta access to Github's new project board which we were going to use.Now that we have decided that Projects won't have to be transferred we are still planning to build the same experience. We will be building a couple of tools to bring the Maintainers Program that we promised. It will take more time than before, so we are planning to keep the application open for now.
