Links don't open in NewPipe #7436
Comments
I think, you should keep the discussion in #2256 as your mentioned site redirects to recommendations' tab. |
Did you maybe configure that the default action for these kind of links is to open them inside the browser and not NewPipe? |
Are you on Android 12? That's the expected behavior as only verified links are allowed to open in app by default which only official YouTube app can do. For third party apps, you have to go in settings and set the defaults for the links to open. P.S. Currently, those defaults will reset again after every Newpipe update. |
@sasukeiscool Please fill out the template. |

This ticket is closed, but the issue remains when using Android 12. And worse, even when adding the necessary links in the Open By Default section of NewPipe android app properties, those links still only open in my browser without ever asking me whether or not I want to open them in NewPipe. I don't know if this is at all fixable from within NewPipe, but nevertheless I want to find out because it's an annoying problem. Edit: when adding all supported links to this section, it finally worked, unintuitively. Weird, because I added all regular youtube.com links already and then it wouldn't work. Meh. This workaround diminishes the impact on Android 12 users, but it's not completely resolved if updates do indeed reset.these URL user overrides. |
YouTube links in the form of http://youtube.com and http://www.youtube.com
automatically opens in browser and not in NewPipe (not due to system settings)
