Revamp of the Download Notification #3332
Comments
@opusforlife2 I'd close #2233 in favour of this, ok? |
Sure. |
This is really useful feature we are missing |
Some users may want to multitask and pause any specific file. In such situation, users should be taken to Downloads when clicked on progress notification and physical |
I think that's a bit unexpected. Opening the Downloads activity is a more straightforward action. |
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe it
The user should be able to see the download progress from the notification, which is the stats and progress bar currently shown in the Downloads activity. The current notification is basically a placeholder to let the user know that a download is in progress, nothing more.
An especially important feature would be separate 'child' notifications for multiple downloads (Download Navi can do this), if the user has turned off the 'Limit download queue' setting.
Ability to pause/resume/cancel downloads from notification. (If child notifications are implemented, then a pause button for every child or one pause button in the parent notification?)
If it is feasible, the notification could show errors that occurred during the download as well.
Additional context
I've seen #2233, which addresses part of this one (the others have been closed), but it's a bit of a... mess.
How will you/everyone benefit from this feature?
Being able to easily see download progress/lack of it, from a glance at the notification instead of having to open the Downloads activity.
