It might be interesting to have a vdi for the OS, and a separate vdi for the user-space, where SIRF would be installed. I think this could allow making a VM with the OS vdi only, and distribute the SIRF vdi separately for advanced users. Those 2 bits might be less than 2GB and therefore could be added as attachment to a release.

I was thinking that we could zip our build and install directories and create a simple script that fetches this file and unpacks it, installs it and configures an empty VM, for instance by issuing updateVM.sh.
