How do we know that the use of web3 actually helped a social impact project make an impact? To qualify for this grant you have to propose a methodology to measure the social impact gains or losses from integrating web3 into your project. Choose and use Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to measure each web3 integration point of your hackathon project, and describe how you will use them to demonstrate if web3 is supporting the project or hurting it.
For example, consider a project that is creating a dApp for reporting and rescuing dangerous snakes from a suburb in Florida. This project issues a token for snakes that are rescued and relocated while also raising funds using the dApp. They could create KPIs for:
Funds raised in crypto
Funds raised in fiat
Number of unique donors in crypto
Number of unique donors in fiat
Number of MAU that login with web3
Number of MAU that login with web2 sign in
Market Cap of the token
Number of snakes rescued by app
Number of snakes rescued by government officials
Amount of donations spent via the app
Amount of taxes spent from the government
Number of reports given via the app
Number of reports given via calling 911
Average response time and success rate via the app
Average response time and success rate via government officials
How you interpret these KPIs is important. For example, did the number of snake reports on the dApp decrease because there are less snakes in the area, or because the web3 login is malfunctioning? This bounty will be awarded to the project that proposes the best methodology for measuring the actual impact (positive or negative) that integrating web3 enabled. This methodology is not considering just the overall impact of the project, but rather the impact of using web3 in each layer of the project. BONUS: The winner of this bounty will also have the opportunity to collaborate with social impact experts who are actively working on developing similar measurement models for various international institutions (the UN, World Bank, etc.), national governments and NGOs’.
Acceptance Criteria 🏁
-KPIs should be Specific, Measurable, Accessible, Reliable and Time Bound. We know that each of these criteria will not be completely addressed in your responses but the more the better.
-Nice to have Identifying the data source for each KPI, as in the source of the data used by the KPI to measure performance.
