On desktop, search button is not very visible, due to it being far out to the right and rather small. An option would be to have a wider search bar, with "Advanced option" or "Filter" button.

This isn't really an issue on mobile, as the narrower screen brings the button more into focus and hiding the field if not used goes more in line with how mobile interfaces work.

What page a we talking about? Any search or some specific one?

We could have different styles, based on the size of device screen (mostly window size). Button size, placement and a few others.

If that is not a big deal, please do attach a small screenshot.

It's the one on the Activity/Items list (I'm guessing they use similar templates). The search button ends up being rather far out.

Suggestion:
I think it need something to help guide the eye more to the search button. Or if the search bar is always visible on desktop.
filter hidden

Clicking the filter button expands and shows all the search options, just as the blue Search does right now.

Made the "Create new" like the "Create Act. Item" in the Activity creation menu, so it's more descriptive and consistent.
