Publication of (mapping) by EU PO ? #1
Comments
In the coming months, we will update the taxonomy and publish it as SKOS on the site of the Publications Office. We should indeed add skos:broad/exact/narrowMatch to other taxonomies. We have contacted Eurostat and the Publications Office to publish the NACE codes as RDF and we will keep you up to date on any progress we make. |
Hi Bart, Small update concerning the publication by the EU PO. The Publication's Office is working on the update of NACE in collaboration with some colleagues from ESTAT. Currently it is in the editing phase which is done in VocBench and there are still a few questions to be solved. As for NUTS, it has been published on EU Vocabularies, you can find the description on the Taxonomies page and the dataset page here: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/at-dataset/-/resource/dataset/nuts . However, there are still some corrections to be done on the file (that’s the reason for which it is not available for browsing). We will probably publish the taxonomy as SKOS on GitHub first and when it is mature enough and a governance body has been established, we could publish it on the Publication's Office website. |
Nice, thanks for the update |
In case it may be of any use: At JRC we have prepared a draft SKOS representation of the taxonomies for their possible use in a project we are conducting in the framework of the ISA² Action on Innovative Public Services (IPS): https://github.com/ipsoeu/cos-taxonomy The taxonomies can also be browsed via HTML pages, generated directly from their SKOS representation: |
It should be obvious, but I'd strongly recommend publishing the taxonomy/ies as SKOS on the site of the publication office.
And if possible, with skos:broad/exact/narrowMatch to a series of other taxonomies being used by other (EU) administrations or initiatives (e.g. if there are related Eurostat, or Eurovoc, or even Gemet concepts... or UN taxonomies, whatever)
On a related note: NACE codes, last time I've checked, there were no stable URIs...
