Transition

Several services for rockbox.org that are hosted by Haxx will be shut down on January 1st, 2021. The time from now until then is known as the transition. The time needed to move data and services elsewhere.

There will be no extension. Everything MUST be moved before the end of 2020 or be lost.

Björn has an initial experimental conversion script to convert it to github wiki

daily builds

The scripts and code for doing them should all be committed and needs to be setup elsewhere if they should remain functional.

flyspray

Needs to be moved or converted to another system (github issues?)

gerrit

Proposal: move over to pull-requests on github, and setup necessary CIs to verify them ahead of time.

git

This was already before mirrored to github. The proposal is to switch to the github version to be the primary asap and only rely on the rockbox.org one for backup/read-only until it gets shutdown.

Resource overview

The big bits are the following:

• download.rockbox.org: 32 GB disk, ~500 GB traffic/month
• www.rockbox.org: (wiki, mail archive, build server, flyspray, gerrit): 15 GB disk, ~70 GB traffic/month

The sites uses very little cpu, other than when it is hit by bot storms crawling the wiki aggressively.

Almost everything is located on a single server. Only forums.rockbox.org and themes.rockbox.org are hosted off-site.
