Description of the issue

Currently, multiple subclasses of the unit class express duplicate or at least similar concepts:

  • OEO:'areal power density unit' and UO:'irradiance unit', both expressing a unit of power / area like W / m^2
  • but also having units like OU:'meter' and UO:'square meter'
    • when defining the axioms of new units with the has unit numerator and has unit denominator, it is unclear whether to use e.g. 'has squared unit denominator' some 'meter' or 'has linear unit denominator' some 'squared meter' for some unit 1 / m^2

Workflow checklist

  • I discussed the issue with someone else than me before working on a solution
  • I already read the latest version of the workflow for this repository
  • The goal of this ontology is clear to me

I am aware that

  • every entry in the ontology should have a definition
  • classes should arise from concepts rather than from words
