Victor's Work. What I've done:

Please write down a 2 -3 line summary of your work this week

Started module 5 which is Energy balance with no reactions. Put in the first law, introduced enthalpy and solved a question. Working through terminology. -ito

Things I want you to know:

Please include things that you want people to know about your work

  • Not sure what comes first ( how do i make the chapter flow). the pages currently do not have a true order.
  • want to add the steam library. ignore "pandas and the tramp" for now.

Your name here's comments:

Add comments on things you like, are innovative, that you would want to add to your notebook
Also add feedback on the notebook. Include points that seem unclear to you or what a student would think in this situation.
Try to have all your comments in one comment block to keep the issue well-organized

Victor's Work.

What I've done:

Finished first draft of module 3, separation. Made notebooks for all sections (except for trend/curve fitting) without examples. Merged purge and recycle topics into one notebook. Added separator notebook to explain separation due to phase changes, expanded on in detail in the equilibrium section.

Things I want you to know:

  • Planning to move Density and Specific gravity, temperature systems, Dimensional Homogeneity and P&ID notebooks to module 0.
  • Left centrifugation notebook blank, planning to use as examples in some of the notebooks

Victor comments:

  • Slow to come up with novel examples and design them in reader-friendly format, will need to dedicate more time to it
  • Lot's of references to the VLE & equilibrium section in CHEM 154 review. Should the equilibrium sections in this module be kept or moved?

3.4 Centrifugation and cyclones

density and SG

  • The introduction is long without learning objective
  • title the question
  • There is an answer with just no. explain more
  • Why no ? Assuming sg is measured to water if and b are bot h1.34 then they should both weight 1.34g

Dimensional Homogeneity and Dimensionless Groups

  • Dimensionaly homogeneity is highlighted but there is no definition
  • The difference in dimensions and units is noted but unclear.

Equilibrium

Process & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID)

Separation - splitter

  • good use of diagram
  • when going through the steps to solve it mightbe beneficial for students to see the thought process of every step

Separation - Purge

  • It is unclear how a purge stream differes from solving a probelm normally

Separation - Purge + recycle

  • It is unclear how a purge stream differes from solving a probelm normally

Separation separator

  • The steps to solve may be the same as the previous but it is important to identify the difference betweenthe previous

Overall

  • Learning objectives should be before intro I think. We should ask Dr.V
  • Keep the titles consistent, sometimes you name the title and section the same, other times you don't.

Density and SG

  • For the SG formula, try using "\frac" for the fraction not "/". It looks kind of odd.
  • Learning objectives should be before intro I think.
  • First sentence, second paragraph, Get rid of "both" you can just say "Density and S.G. are common ..."
  • "The density of solid water is less than it's liquid form, while the density of solid n-butyl alcohol is more than it's liquid form." change to "Ice is less dense than liquid water, while solid n-butyl alcohol is denser.". Something like that. Make it simpler.
  • need problem statement.
  • Last formula has a stray $.

Dimensional Homogeneity and Dimensionless Groups

  • "In CHBE 241 (and most other sciences), we need to ..." I think just remove "(and most other sciences)". CHBE 241 is not a science.
  • Add problem statement

Recylce and purge

-The lay out is confusing, you have introduction labeled twice and your learning objectives are not labeled

  • Consider putting space in between the equations, looks squished and is hard to read
  • The last figure is not showing for me, you also have some stray text. "![Figur"

Separator

-The overview should be called introduction.

  • Figure 1 is a tad small.
  • need to add problem statement.

Splitter

  • I think you should have contents in either all of the sections or none. Not speratic.
  • need to add problem statement.
