Why You’re a Good Fit

I've already been helping out with the effort to find new sponsors and connections. I've been active with NixOS for 3 years and I have a clear idea as how we can increase Nix's adoption and community size. I hope to leverage connections provided by the community. I'm responsible for quite a bit of recent work on LLVM and the formation of the stdenv team. I also am the NixOS 24.11 release manager.

Other Disclosures

I work at Goodwill in a donation center so there is very little in conflict of interest.

Why They’re a Good Fit

Long time contributor, active in discourse support & current admin of NixOS (Unofficial) Discord. They have been the backbone for new users and I believe if they have the time to dedicate further, they would make an outstanding choice.

Selected Role

  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Director of Legal Affairs
  • Director of Community Support

Why You’re a Good Fit

  • I'm good at keeping things moving forward: Scheduling meetings, collecting agenda items, writing proposals, taking notes, following up, etc.
  • I value explicit and well-defined processes, authority and responsibility. I understand the importance of unblocking and empowering people with delegated authority and responsibilities.
  • I have a strong desire to fix issues at their root instead of applying hot-fixes.
  • I understand the community around the project and how the foundation can use its resources to best support it.
  • I value community health and project sustainability over growth in numbers, and understand that this doesn't always align with the needs of companies.

As part of the board, I'd like to work on the following:

  • Ensure that all board processes are well documented and function smoothly.
  • Establish sponsorship tiers.
  • Maintain partnerships and establish new ones.
  • Establish paid positions for carrying out essential tasks.
  • Allocate more funding for teams and individuals.
  • Push and track progress towards getting the Nix trademark.

I will also always keep an eye on making sure that the board adheres to the Nix Governance Constitution and that the decisions are aligned with the Nix Community Values.
