ISXD tracks are an essential part an IMP, where "living" (running) metadata may be stored, so it is really paramount that photon supports it. Examples of per-frame, running metadata, for either production, distribution, playback and archival/preservation usecases, are:
tracking and other geometry changes;
camera parameters (reel name, ISO, color temp, shooting parameters);
scanning metadata (KeyKode, emulsion, film defects, scanner calibration);
editorial notes;
list of speaking characters' names (and corresponding actors' names) and their faces' positions;
colorimetry info (LUTs, ODT/IDT/LMT, CDLs, HDR/QT/Dolby Vision parameters);
bitrate constrains;
any other other metadata useful for the finishing, CG, VFX, versioning/localization and mastering departments;
For a visual guide to such usecases and further technical details, see my deck for @imfug's 2019 Workshop on preserving movies with IMF at The Eye (Amsterdam, slides 8–15), where I initially proposed such broad usage of ISXD back in 2019 – as well as using SCM for "static" (composition-wide) metadata.
Photon does not appear to recognize ISXD as a viable track file.
ERROR-Unsupported sequence type or schema Tag: rdd:ISXDSequence URI: http://www.dolby.com/schemas/RDD-47/2018 [Photon version: 4.8.0]
We'd like to see this supported for both mastering and distribution use cases.
