Parse file name from config info

Bug identified in the code where some commits may not have passed through at some point? The filename parsing seems pretty hard-coded, and we want to use the config file.

• filenames - GFDLish with period delimiters
• filenames - CMIP DRS with hyphen delimiters

logic can be unified later, in a separate issue
