Background

This initiative focuses on increasing developer engagement, expanding community reach, and fostering a more interactive, supportive environment for both new and existing developers. It aims to improve how developers discover content, participate in discussions, share their knowledge, and engage with platform updates and events—all with minimal budget and maximum community input.

User Story

  1. Educational Curated Playlists: 🔷 [Epic]: Educational Curated Playlists content#15

    • A recurring Google Form or submission mechanism for developers to propose their favorite tutorials, articles, and tools each week.
    • Regular publication of these playlists in newsletters, on social media, and in a centralized “Top Picks” section of the DevHub site.
    • Creation of playlists of this content
  2. Open Mic Story Sessions: 🔷 [Epic]: AI Office Hour Recaps Jan '25 content#16

    • Monthly scheduled sessions where developers volunteer to share personal stories, tips, or lessons learned.
    • Promotion of the event through social channels, including recorded highlights for those who missed the live session.
  3. “Behind the Code” Mini-Documentaries: 🔷 [Epic] “Behind the Code” Mini-Documentaries content#17

    • Bi-weekly short-form video features (30-60 seconds) spotlighting a developer’s journey, what they’re building, and why it matters.
    • Distribution across YouTube Shorts, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Twitter for maximum shareability and reach.
  4. Centralized Content Hub (dev.near.org Enhancements): 🔷 [Epic]: Centralized Content Hub (dev.near.org Enhancements) content#18

    • Improved navigation and curation so developers can easily find the latest tutorials, events, hackathons, and success stories in a single place.
    • New landing pages, tags, or filters for better discoverability.
  5. Feedback Loop & Surveys: 🔷 [Epic]: Feedback Loop & Surveys content#19

    • Simple, recurring feedback forms or polls integrated into newsletters and social channels to gauge community sentiment and collect continuous improvement ideas.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Increased Developer Participation: Grow the number of active contributors and community members engaging with content, live sessions, and forums by at least 20% over the next quarter.
  • Enhanced Content Discovery: Streamline the way developers find tutorials, blog posts, AMAs, events, and documentation, resulting in a measurable increase in resource consumption (e.g., 30% more tutorial video views).
  • Community-Led Content Creation: Encourage user-generated content (UGC) through community-curated playlists, open mic story sessions, and short dev-focused mini-docs, increasing community involvement in content creation and curation.
  • Expanded Social Reach: Boost social engagement (likes, shares, comments) by 25% through the introduction of creative, low-cost initiatives such as meme/GIF challenges, developer spotlights, and public pair-programming sessions.
  • Improved Developer Satisfaction: Increase the developer satisfaction metric (as measured by surveys or feedback forms) by providing a more personalized and humanized developer experience, emphasizing storytelling, recognition, and easy-to-follow onboarding paths.

Resources & Additional Notes

  • Coordination with marketing, DevRel, and community management teams to schedule events, ensure consistent branding, and amplify reach.
  • Technical updates to dev.near.org for improved navigation, requiring input from web developers and UX designers.
  • Alignment with content strategy and editorial guidelines to maintain quality and consistency.
