What will happen in your session?
This session will bring the concept of the 'museum' to the festival and ask participants to challenge their view of what this could be for and build upon experience from the Fitzwilliam, Victoria & Albert, British Museum and Stirling University. It is hoped (if security allows) to bring handling objects from museum collections, allied to digitally derived pieces (3D models, tactile exhibit pieces, Augmented Reality, digital installation) to enable participants to learn, interact with objects from around the world. Participants could investigate colonial roots of many museums collections and suggest different ways of interpretation, display and interaction.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
This session aims to:
a) fresh creative ideas from the Mozfest community to take away and inform future work at our institutions
b) provide an interactive museum experience for participants
c) build upon our successful session held last year (African Rock Art at the fair and 3D as a session)
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
Projector, couple of screens, power bars, flipchart paper, markers, post-its
Time needed
All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session
