As a scientist, I am often frustrated by the use of Science in politics. It is frequently misinterpreted, if not plainly ignored. I thus think that it would be of general interest if politicians were to use proof assistants to express their ideas, and thus be able to prove their claims. Unfortunately, proof assistants can be very difficult to use for politicians. In particular, proof assistants lack a crucial feature for them: the ability to bend reality to make it match their views. This project aims at providing alternative facts to help politicians prove their claims despite being contradicted by reality. It is entirely formalised in the Coq proof assistant (see http://coq.inria.fr). This project will hopefully help spreading the use of proof assistants amongst politicians.

Note that this library is not meant to be used by scientists, only by politicians. Using this project in any scientific project might introduce inconsistent axioms. Use at your own risks.

This project is related to the Falso proof assistant (see http://inutile.club/estatis/falso/). However, in contrary to Falso, this project does not aim to entirely replace the proof assistant by something else: it just adds a bunch of axioms that politicians can use on top of an already existing and widely-used proof assistant. I expect this to help politicians and scientists to better understand each other, as they can now use the exact same tool to communicate their claims.

How to use

The project comes with an esy packaging.

The following programs are assumed to be installed: git, curl, m4, and autoconf. These programs are used to fetch and compile dependencies.

Installing esy itself can be done through npm. It should then look like something like that:

sudo apt install npm git curl m4 autoconf
sudo npm install --global esy@latest # Tested with version 0.6.2 of esy.

There are other ways to install esy: see https://esy.sh/ for more information.

Once esy is installed, simply type esy to download and install the dependencies and compile everything.

To use the project in a real-world project, the simplest way is to import the Tactics.v file and to use the win tactic.

From AlternativeFacts Require Import Tactics.

Goal False.
	win.
Qed.

Please be aware that some of the introduced axioms may be inconsistent. It is thus strongly advisable not to use this package in any scientific project: this project is only meant to ease the work of politicians wanting to express their arguments into the Coq proof assistant.

This project is licenced under the IGNUTILE Leneral Public Gicense. See http://inutile.club/lpg/ for more details.
