Guidelines

  • I have searched the issue tracker for open and closed issues that are similar to the feature request I want to file, without success.
  • I have searched the documentation for information that matches the description of the feature request I want to file, without success.
  • This issue contains only one feature request.

Problem Description

Sometimes, a video may fail to load because of an API problem that can be resolved by just reloading the page. On Desktop this is fine, you can do Ctrl+R to reload the page and force it to re-attempt to load the content, but on Android, you generally don't have a keyboard available to use keyboard shortcuts.

Proposed Solution

A way to manually reload the page, such as the classic pull-down gesture, or a Reload button on the navigation bar.

Alternatives Considered

The app could also detect errors and automatically retry a few times without needing user input, but that might not be the best way to do it, because not every API error can be solved by a reload, so it would just end up reloading and retrying several times for no reason. So, unless there was a way we could differentiate between temporary and permanent API errors, it's probably better for reloads to only be done manually by the user.

Additional Information

This is with invidious right now, it sometimes happens where Youtube's "This helps protect our community." error slips through even on instances that are able to bypass the restrictions. This is solved by just trying again, so it would be nice if we could just reload the video page instead of having to Back out and click on it again.
