Board needs changes to work properly

In order to get the board working I had to add a 10k between RESET and 3V3. I used a 0603 between 3V3 (pin 2) and EN (pin 3) of the WROOM32D . This lets the board boot.
In order to get upload via FTDI working I had to add a 1uF capacitor between RESET and GND. I used a 0805 1uF between Q2 pin 3 and the UEXT pin 2 (GND).

Thanks for finding and solving these issues. I used it only with AT commands and didn't reflash the ESP32 yet, so I didn't realize flashing doesn't work properly.

Will update the board when I have time and keep the issue open until then so that others know about the issues.
